Fintech and IT: How technology is changing the financial world and how we work with our client CRIF

Alexandra Gálfyová|20.09.2023

How technology is changing the financial world

When people think of finance, they often see images of banks, coins and banknotes. But the modern financial world is much more complex and digital. At the heart of this digital transformation is an industry known as 'FinTech'. It is a combination of innovative solutions that are transforming the traditional financial sector and bringing modern digital services to the fingertips of every individual.

Fintech, short for "financial technology", refers to technologies aimed at improving and automating the delivery of financial services. This includes everything from mobile payments and peer-to-peer platforms to robo-advice and blockchain. In short, Fintech is about how technology is changing the way we handle money. At the heart of every solution in this industry is information technology. Whether it's big data analytics to predict market trends, cloud-based solutions for banking or mobile apps to manage personal finances, IT is an integral part of the fintech revolution. Thanks to IT, we can now enjoy faster, safer and more efficient financial services that are often tailored to the needs of individual customers.

As fintech solutions grow in complexity and importance, many companies are looking outside their internal teams for expertise. IT outsourcing has become a popular way for fintech companies to access the latest technology, knowledge and innovation without the need to create and maintain their own large IT departments. In addition to cost savings, IT outsourcing can provide fintech companies with the flexibility to respond to changing market needs and technology trends.

Coderama and the Fintech industry

Within the Fintech industry we have had the privilege of working with many respected clients. For example, we have worked with Asseco Central Europe, a leading software company in Central and Eastern Europe. We have also proven ourselves in projects with CRIF, an international risk management and credit assessment company. Our cooperation also included projects with Monet+, which specialises in payment solutions and banking technology. We are no strangers to the banking sector, as evidenced by projects with such giants as ČSOB and Slovenská sporiteľňa. Ferratum Bank has entrusted us with the implementation of some of their online financial services. For our client Libertio nova, we have been in the development of their digital financial solutions. With RPC, we embarked on projects in the area of payment systems, and Uniqa, one of the leading insurance companies in Central Europe, approached us for our expert approach to digital innovation. Our experience is broad and diverse, enabling us to bring innovative solutions to market and deliver value to our clients.

Our services include not only software development, but also consulting services, needs analysis and the design of optimal solutions for a specific project. We strongly believe that combining our technological expertise with our understanding of the financial market allows us to create solutions that truly meet our clients' needs.

Cooperation with the CRIF client

The cooperation with CRIF is crucial for us as it is one of our biggest customers. Our collaboration started in 2019 and since then we have completed more than ten projects together. During this collaboration, up to 45 members of our team have been involved in various tasks. Currently, 23 of our experts are working on projects for CRIF.

Let's take a closer look at some of the projects we have worked on and how we ensured their successful implementation.

Project: Fraud Prevention Pool (FPP)

Modernization of the system for monitoring non-payers in the field of telecommunications with emphasis on high quality and testing of the most sensitive parts.

Task:

The FPP was designed for the telecommunications sector to exchange information on clients registered as non-payers. The new FPP system replaced the previous system with a wide range of new services and technologies, including full data migration. The main reason for CODERAMA's participation in this project was to improve the quality of the backend part of the software and to identify the most critical areas that needed to be thoroughly tested. Other objectives included the automation of different business and technical scenarios that contain "corner cases" so that we could monitor the response of the new system, for example when integrating with CSP or IDENT.

Implementation:

CODERAMA was responsible for the entire testing process. We selected the appropriate framework, tools and metrics and created a test plan. We also provided internal testing activities which included testing common sprint tasks, new features, finding bugs and inconsistencies, preparing reports and deliverables, collaborating with other team members such as BA's, DEV's, BO's and PM's. As part of the business testing activity, we set the main objective to prepare acceptance tests for partial and final approval with full automation of these test scenarios using the ReadyAPI tool, which included MS SQL scripts covering the database layer.

Result:

We delivered a fully functional and error-free system to the client.

From a member of our team:

"I was particularly interested in this project because I was faced with a number of technical and logical problems that needed to be addressed, and ultimately provide a workable solution. I also want to highlight the great collaboration with the Polish and German team." - Lubomir, Senior Tester.

Project: MARGO

Margo is a medium-sized web-based information system with a huge database of company data deployed in several countries in Europe and Asia. It is designed for large customers who want to manage portfolios of companies for further collaboration using a large number of filters and operations over them.

Task:

Coderama started with Margo from ground and in the first phase had the project in their hands. Gradually more colleagues from Italy were added and currently the core team has around 30 people. After the success in the Italian market, the project is expanding to other countries. Some versions are on CRIF servers and new ones are already on OpenShift or AWS. The development of new modules and the extension of functionalities are constantly ongoing.

 Result:

Margo is already launched in Italy, Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Philippines and Switzerland. More countries and new modules with new services will certainly be added. It is a successful project that will not end so soon.

From a member of our team:

"Margo is the best project I've worked on in my career so far, and for many reasons. Thanks to the modern technologies used, as well as management's willingness to keep upgrading and improving them, technological stagnation is not an option. The support for implementation in the area of your choice allows, for example, me, a die-hard backend developer, to slowly learn frontend technologies like React, which I appreciate very much. Although the team is quite large, within reason it is very efficient and well managed by a great manager. Also, the whole team consists of a awesome group of people. Margo is a project where I really enjoyed my work and will enjoy it for years to come." - Viliam, Senior Developer.

Project: BIF (Business Info)

Modernization of existing solutions for creating and editing databases of companies from different countries.

Task:

BIF was created to modernize an existing solution. The idea behind the project is to enable the creation of new modules for companies from individual countries and also to provide customization of the necessary parts according to the requirements of the country. Company information is stored in a common database, which allows clients from different countries to buy reports about companies from other countries.

Implementation:

Within CODERAMA we are responsible for the analysis, development, deployment and implementation of changes in new as well as existing modules. Most of our work is focused on the back-end. We are mainly involved in creating XML and PDF reports, migrating company data, modifying database scripts and implementing external APIs. When creating new modules, we try to use the latest technologies to continuously improve and modernize the project.

Result:

Clients are now able to easily purchase reports about companies from different countries thanks to a modernized and efficient database.

From a member of our team:

"On the BIF project, I had the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues and apply new technologies to practice." - Patrik, Senior Developer.

What does the client himself - IT director Martin Dolog - say about the cooperation?

"I've had experience with several software suppliers - some better, some worse. CODERAMA is different. Their management people are always available, very flexible and have a proactive approach. Working with them really takes the difficulty out of getting the right people. Not only are they quick to respond to new demand, but the quality of their developers, analysts and testers is very high. They have experience with large projects and distributed teams. I am very satisfied with the collaboration and will be happy to recommend them."

Our collaboration with CRIF represents a combination of technological capability, innovative thinking and experience. We are proud to say that these projects are a testament to our commitment to delivering value to our clients and playing our part in creating a better digital world.
